2020.09.19 23:29 ArtificialLocomotion Pop Stars Signature Songs

What do you think will be the “signature song” of the likes of Rihanna, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, etc. By signature song I mean the one song which they will be mostly remembered for in 15+ years to come.
My opinion:
Katy - The easiest; Definitely Roar or Firework. Songs like Teenage Dream, Hot N Cold, Never Really Over and Dark Horse are great, but Roar or Firework are the ones I see the general public associating Katy with in a decade or so. If I had to lean to one I would probably go with Firework.
Taylor - I far prefer her album tracks opposed to her big singles, I wish I could answer this question with Enchanted or All Too Well. But, I would say she will be remembered for either Love Story, Shake It Off or Blank Space. Leaning towards only one I would say Shake It Off as it’s still insanely popular and played a lot on radio.
Rihanna - With 14 number one hits it’s difficult to select only one song which will become her signature, but I would have to say Umbrella. This launched her to new heights in 2007 and is still very impactful on pop culture. We Found Love also could become her signature hit.
Lady Gaga - Bad Romance. I can envision a battle between Bad Romance, Poker Face and Born This Way for the title of her signature song. However, Bad Romance was definitely her peak and what the general romance will remember her for in a single song.
Others; Miley - Wrecking Ball Nicki - Super Bass/Anaconda/Bang Bang

2020.09.18 00:59 Itsajamu9 After the twitter attacks, what's next for Kanye's contract negotiations with UMG?

Is there a specific plan for Kanye's attempt to get his masters for his 6 solo albums not including CD, which UMG deemed "initial album". I feel like he should sue them.... but he already did that in 2018 and they settled....This means they exhausted all legal options, Kanye pays for the best lawyers and they're telling him its best to settle with UMG& Sony because he will lose in court.
UMG will not give the master recordings for his 7 projects, which are very lucrative for the label. They won't entertain selling them to Kanye.
I heard legally the labels have to offer Kanye a chance to buy his masters in 2036 but he wants it right now.
I'm guessing Kanye is trying to build public outrage against UMG but he needs to understand he alienated a lot people with his presidential campaign & controversial statements, etc....A lot of people online are attacking him for signing a bad contract....He doesn't have public support, they support the message but they don't support Kanye.
If he was more calculative in his moves, he would have Rihanna/Beyonce/Drake/Cole/Hov/Kendrick all voicing for Kanye's concerns....but he alienated those guys with his past actions....There is no mega star rushing to his side. NO ONE

Derrick Milano profile:

On one of the busiest days of music releases so far (March 13), a certain name in the credits keeps reappearing. By now, Derrick Milano, a Philadelphia, Pa.-bred artist, has slowly but surely earned the trust and respect of the hottest stars. He landed credits on DaniLeigh’s new track “Levi High” featuring DaBaby; Rich The Kid’s new album, BOSS MAN; and and Kiana Lede’s “Forfeit” featuring Lucky Daye, with plenty more in the works behind the scenes.
Although being a recording artist was always the goal at the top of the list, Derrick Milano is best described as the man who continuously refuses to be boxed in. His ability to shape-shift to fit whatever role is needed to bring the best out of any track being worked on, makes him an undeniable influence in the room as a production connoisseur. From A&R-ing a huge chart-topping hit from start to finish Megan Thee Stallion's “Hot Girl Summer”, to ad-libbing on records including Nicki Minaj's “Yikes,” to co-writing for singers such as Justin Bieber, Kehlani, and Kiana Lede, Milano’s artistry and capacity to help other artists knows no bounds.
Before the high profile studio sessions with artists such as Nas, Cardi B, Juicy J, and Minaj lies a lifelong journey of chasing dreams. Milano took no shortcuts, though, and the quest has been documented to prove it. From singing in the church choir, to scrolling for hours on SoundClick looking for beats to rap over, to battle rapping in high school and eventually hustling endlessly to make a name for himself in college, Milano built up his career brick by brick, ensuring the years of work would prepare him for his pivotal moment.
What would you say has been the pivotal moment so far in your career?
I worked on “Simon Says” for Megan Thee Stallion with this artist named Wolftyla. Juicy J brought us in on the project. Megan ended up cutting the hook, doing her own thing to it, and then the song kind of blew up on her project on Fever. Juicy J produced it and then Juicy J was calling me every day like, “Megan needs stuff. Megan needs stuff.” We were sending ideas and I said, at the end of the day, whatever I could do to help, I'll help. So he told me that she wanted to do a song with Drake, and Juicy said we just need to come up with a dope idea that would be good for them both. I knew it was going to be hard because Drake is one of those artists that’s impossible to work with or get to.
We had a whole bunch of beats sent over. The beats were OK, but they weren't strong enough. I got into the studio with this producer named Bone Collector. He pulled up this one beat and I did the “Hot Girl Summer” hook. For that inspiration, a girl I used to deal with was just posting on Instagram and she was constantly like “hot girl summer” and every girl was repeating the “real a-- b---h give a f--k ‘bout a n---a” (from “Act Up” by City Girls). So I decided to flip it and make it a n---a perspective.
I sent it back to Juice. I said, “I think this is the one, but I think it's missing your drums. It’s not ratchet enough.” So I brought Juicy in on production. We ended up giving the hook to Ty Dolla $ign. Gave it back to Megan, and she did her part.
We were about to put it out, but we were like, "It needs something." Shout out to Murda Beatz. He introduced me to Nicki Minaj. That's, like, my sis. Me and Nicki started building up our relationship.
At that time, "Hot Girl Summer" was the biggest conversation and it was summertime when I met her. I was telling her about this record Megan got, and Nicki said Megan is dope and that she’d love to work with her. I told her it would be dope if she put a verse on it. I just planted the seed. One night, they were on Instagram Live and Megan asked Nicki to get on the record. It was like, “Let’s do it.” I pulled up on Nicki, she got on the record, and boom -- the song came out.
You’ve been in the room with some of the best rising talent. Who are some people you really believe in?
Kiana Lede. I did a lot on Kiana’s new album and I’m excited for people to hear that, for real. I was really excited about Pop Smoke. That’s my dog. My favorite artist is 50 Cent. When I had the opportunity to work with Pop Smoke, I just thought of how Eminem, Scott Storch and Dr. Dre got to work with 50 Cent in that era, I obviously never got the chance to work in that era. I was thinking, now maybe we could create that with Pop Smoke since he reminded me so much of 50. Bringing him into a world where we can make his sound so universal but still New York.

London Jae

2020.09.15 02:34 Sisyphus_Salad [LEAK] Tracklist + Features for Certified Blubber Boy

For the past month I have been acting as an informant in the OVO camp, trying to lay low and gather whatever intel I can. Through my hours and hours of recon I can tell you this:
Certified Blubber Boy will be an 13 track nautical concept album, and will feature Drake rapping from the point of view of various sea creatures. Drake was upset with the reception of Scorpion, and feels as though he needed to prove himself as being one of the greatest in hip hop history by penning his magnum opus.
The album deals with a lot of subjects which surprised me quite a lot to be honest. This is not your typical Drake fare. Many songs delve into the inner workings of underwater ecosystems, and how humans are slowly killing all the coral reefs. It's honestly a bit annoying how much he brings it up, even when it's a banger like 'Show Me Your Sea Cucumber'. I honestly think this album will be pretty divisive, and I hope he irons out some of the weirder bits. Anyway, without further ado, here's the tracklist boys:
  1. Shark Week
  2. In Your Anenome ft. Rihanna & Young Thug
  3. Fish Like Me
  4. Barnacle Bitches ft. Gunna
  5. Happy Meal ft. Jay Z
  6. Plastic in My Gills
  7. Show Me Your Sea Cucumber ft. Pharrell & Justin Bieber
  8. FDHAOCL (Fish Don't Have Age Of Consent Laws) ft. Michael Jackson
  9. OVOzone Layer ft. Snoop Dogg
  10. Fry Me Up ft. Jason Derulo, Chris Brown & Akon
  11. Swim Now Drown Later (A rework of the single to coincide with the concept album theme)
  12. Salty ft. Future & Wiz Khalifa
  13. Coral Teef ft. Riff Raff

2020.09.13 21:53 tutetibiimperes Nugu Roundup #56 -Blooming Boys - 200913 + Album Giveway!

Hello and welcome to the latest Nugu Roundup!
What is this?: This is a weekly feature designed to highlight the unknown/underappreciated groups and soloists working hard in the Kpop world that often fall under the radar. Please share your own information, favorite performance videos, fanmeet stories, or anything else relevant below!
Last week we supported #Hashtag. This week it's time for a boy group who's relatively new but who has been making some very cool music, let's get to know ENOi!
Look at the first comment below for the winner of the tenth Nugu Roundup Album Giveaway, plus details on this week's album up for grabs!
What is Nugu?: While in Korean it literally means 'Who' in the broader Kpop context it refers to groups that are generally unknown amongst the greater public. It doesn't have to mean they're extremely new, though it can, and there are of course varying degrees of 'unknown' which some groups having very strong niche fandoms and others being almost invisible. I take a fairly broad view and will include groups that may be known to some, but who don't have widespread name recognition.
Let's get on with the show...
________________________________________________________
ENOi
Who are they?: A seven member boy group under KITHEWHALE Entertainment, their name comes from "wE caN dO iT". The group members have individual colors and gemstones which are meant to represent both positive and negative elements of their personalities, with the concept being that they will grow to be better and overcome their negative aspects. Their fandom name is RAYS which stands for 'Realize All Your Stars' and also carries the meaning that the group can't grow without the rays of light form the fans.
Company: KITHEWHALE Entertainment's name comes from combining the Korean words for 'Lungfish' and 'Whale'. They are a combination IT Company and Kpop Agency and are involved in some way with blockchains. Their goal is to merge their strengths in technology and artistic development. ENOi is their first and only Kpop group, though they have produced Korean hip-hop content in the past.

Random Stuff
Trivia: Member Hamin had been considering giving up on his dream of becoming a singer before Laon convinced him to join the group. Dojin and Jinwoo were students at the same training academy and when Laon approached Dojin he convinced Jinwoo to sign on as well. Avin and Gun were both discovered by Laon through social media and he e-mailed them a presentation about ENOi to convince them to join. Laon was living in a one room studio apartment when he had the idea to form the group, and admits that it was a reckless desire but he's very proud of how they've all come together. The group is known for being perfectionist when it comes to their practice schedule - going through the dance routine for Bloom over 1,500 times before debut, and over 1,000 times for Cheeky to the point where they were sustaining knee injuries but didn't want to water down the choreography or give up.

Soloist of the Week
Grace/Grazy Grace
Who is she?: Grace is currently an independent soloist/singer-songwriter. She was previously promoted by YYAC but is currently involved in a contract dispute with them. She is Korean American, born in Long Island, but traveled Korea as a trainee though never debuted with a group, later gaining attention competing in Unpretty Rapstar 3. She is known for sharing stories from behind the scenes of the Kpop system on her YouTube channel.
Solo Debut: February 4th, 2016 with I'm Fine (MV) Live Performance (Link) Dance Practice (Link)
Most Recent Comeback: June 29th, 2020 with Planet (MV)
Other MVs and Releases
YouTube Channel: Grazy Grace and Grazy TV and YYAC Official
Random Stuff
Trivia: The English bios I've found all state that she was born in Long Island, NY, however her Korean bio on the namu.wiki indicates that she was born in Seoul and emigrated to the USA at age 7, I'm not sure which is correct. She was eliminated from Unpretty Rapstar in the 8th episode. She created the hook for the Unpretty Rapstar Season 3 theme song "She's Coming". While she has never publicly stated it, it's widely assumed that her trainee experience was in Nega Network/NH Media as part of the group that eventually became Laboum. She is friends with former Rania member Alex and H.U.B member Hyosun. She's a fan of sushi and mexican food. She holds a lifeguard certificate. She has been quite candid about her experiences in the Kpop industry on her YouTube channel, including stories about some of the less-glamorous behind the scenes issues such as encouragement of plastic surgery, sexual propositions, and body shaming issues. ________________________________________________________
IN MEMORIAM
PPL
Who were they?: A six member girl group under Parksal Entertainment. The group was made up of Racing Models, and stood for "Perfect Performance Ladies".
Company: Parksal Entertainment had a highly-anticipated pre-debut girl group known as Rendezvous which has disbanded prior to debut, though their main vocalist Seulgi will be debuting as a soloist. They also represent former PPL member Ah Hee who now promotes as DJ Fatal, ballad duo Premu, and a number of models. They also appear to be involved in various other business activities such as watersports equipment rental, video production, and vaping products.
MVs and Releases
Active Between: October 30th 2015 - Sometime in 2018
Reasons for Disbanding: In early 2018 the company announced that they would be replacing four members of the group, however the replacements never debuted and one of the remaining two, Ah Hee, began working under the company as a DJ. All other activity ceased and the group's YouTube channel was replaced with one hawking vaping devices.
Trivia: Member Ah Hee is now active as a model and as DJ Fatal. Member Da Hee married the CEO of Parksal Entertainment in December 2018 and afterwards it was revealed they had been dating for six years (which would have included the entire run of the group). Member Gakyung was named the 10th most beautiful woman in the world by fashion magaine MODE and appeared in Top Gear Korea. She continues as a model. Member Yujin was previously a law student but didn't feel it suited her, she is currently working as a model following the breakup of the group. Member Azi was Miss Korea 2008. Member Sol A dreamt of becoming a kindergarten teacher and getting married quickly but did not follow through with those plans. A Chinese fan once flew from China to give her gold on her birthday. She is currently working as a model.

That's it for today, let's get the discussion on!
As always, if you have any suggestions for groups, content, or things you'd like to see, please let me know in the comments below.

2020.09.10 14:38 SaturnJohn A decade ago today, Rihanna released "Only Girl (In The World)" as the lead single for her fifth studio album "LOUD"

The single, which would reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marked a stark difference between her past album, Rated R, and her new project, and would give us our first (solo) taste of Rihanna's iconic red hair.
The iconic hitmaking duo Stargate worked on the song, and it would end up winning a Grammy for Best Dance Record at the 2011 ceremony. It is also certified 6x platinum in the US, and 2x platinum in the UK. As of today, its music video has amassed 785 million views on YouTube
It is to this day remembered as one of the singer's most remembered hits from last decade, and one of the defining songs from 2010.
Let's celebrate this iconic hit's anniversary by watching its music video!

2020.09.10 02:11 fairytalehigh Cassie's underrated, almost-unknown 2013 masterpiece RockaByeBaby

Going to take a moment to preach the gospel of how great Cassie's 2013 mixtape RockaByeBaby is. I feel like the only person in the world who knows about it, which is probably because
In any case, I've loved Cassie since my middle school days when "Me & U" was a hit (2006). Apparently she had some disastrous live performances from that period but on RockaByeBaby she sounds absolutely unfuckwithable. She has great flow, she's confident and smooth, and she's never upstaged by her all-star cast (IMO Jeremih is the only one who comes close).
It also finds her excelling in a variety of modes: icy cool ("Addiction," "Paradise"), sensual and hypnotic ("Numb," "Sound of Love"), full-on menacing ("Take Care of Me Baby," "I Love It"). And that's just the first half!
The second half has, well, pretty much everything a gay could want. Cassie goes into full-on flex overdrive. Highlights include:
Everyone jokes about Lorde and Normani tantalizing everyone by not dropping "the album" but Cassie's been at that game for 14 fucking years, except for this mixtape. Her singles/features since then have been intriguing, particularly 2018's "Muse / About Ava" with The Code, but I think "Don't Play It Safe" with Kaytranada takes the cake. That one comes complete with a music video featuring her luxuriating by a twilit poolside with CGI tigers. It's amazing.
Anyways, I was digging through my iTunes library yesterday out of boredom, remembered RockaByeBaby (as if I could forget) and spent the day jamming out.
My personal favorite is "Numb" featuring Rick Ross, which is absolute pop perfection.
BONUS: If you think I'm obsessive, you should check out the Cassie Collective, who collected her loosies from 2012 to RockaByeBaby into a cohesive trilogy of "mixtapes" styled after the Weeknd's (including and especially cover art), categorized into "dark-style electro," "minimalist R&B," and, yes, "pure pop." Sadly, IDK if the download link still exists.
BONUS BONUS: She's credited as a backing vocalist in "Way to the Show" off Solange's When I Get Home.
BONUS BONUS BONUS: "King of Hearts" (2012) is a song that echoes Kylie and Rihanna in terms effortless dance-pop bops and rivals them (if not beats them at their own game) but sadly, no one talks about it.

2020.09.09 19:45 TiltControls Stats from every song rated by r/Popheads after 100 rates

Hello Popheads! I am u/TiltControls and I hope you're ready to be overwhelmed with too many tables, stats, and numbers that have no influence outside of this subreddit! Over the course of the pandemic, instead of learning a new language or skill, I have been compiling a list of every song rated in Popheads history, including score, controversy, placement, and more. With the Redemption Rate Reveal yesterday two days ago (because I am slow) Popheads has hit its 100th rate! (Actually can be 97-102 depending on how you classify rates but ignore that…). So I figured now was as good a time as any to finally get this list finished and posted!
For those unaware, the subreddit performs 2-3 rates a month where we all come together and endlessly bicker send in scores to determine our general consensus/opinions on songs! A good overview on past rates and how to do it can be found here.
About the data: not included here is the bonus rate for the Up and Coming Rap Girls since the conditions for rating were different than normal (and it breaks basically every statistic I have). Also there is no guarantee everything listed here is correct, but I am reasonably confident it's all accurate. Still, if you see something off let me know!
If you don't care about the numerous charts that are included you can find a link to the raw data/full songlist here and again at the bottom of the post.

People have opinions with these Ultimate album rates! Though partially owing to the large turnout they get whenever we do them, I'm still surprised that 5 different ones have taken 6 spots on the leaderboard. Minimums and Maximums
Out of the many, many songs we’ve rated only 5(!) have gone through a rate without receiving a score 7 or below.
Lowest score 8.3 How Will I Know – Whitney Houston (80s Dancepop Debuts) Lowest score 8.0 POWER – Kanye West (Modern Classics of Hip Hop) Lowest score 8.0 Valerie - Mark Ronson & Amy Winehouse (Disco/Funk Revival Bonus) Lowest score 8.0 One More Time - Daft Punk (Disco/Funk Revival Bonus) Lowest score 7.5 Do I Wanna Know – The Arctic Monkeys (2013 Alt Rock)
(If you want to be more forgiving there are an additional 16 songs whose lowest scores were 7 exactly)
On the other side, 3 songs have never received an 8 or above when rated. Funny enough, all of them are from the same artist and rate. Sorry Backstreet Boys, better luck in the VH1 90’s rate.
Highest score 7.8 Spanish Eyes Highest score 7.5 You Knew What I Knew Highest score 7.0 You Wrote the Book on Love
Current Thresholds
Wondering where in the rankings each song falls? Here is a list of handy milestones to compare! Also included are what songs sit as the gatekeepers of each milestone (Dreams for example, is in place #50).
Top 50:
9.403 Dreams – Fleetwood Mac (All Time Classics)
Top 100:
9.259 Run Away With Me – Carly Rae Jepsen (Winner’s Rate 1)
Top 500:
8.642 Oops I Did It Again – Britney Spears (Winner’s Rate 1) 8.642 Waking the Witch – Kate Bush (OG Art Pop)
Top 1000:

Top Half of Songs (Median):
7.383 Sirens - Kelsea Ballerini (New Country Girls) 7.383 Just Another Thing – Maren Morris (New Country Girls) 7.383 Haunted – Evanescence (Aughties Rock)
Not in the bottom 100:
4.841 Dear Diary – Britney Spears (Y2K Teen Rate)
Overall Average
Over every single rate, using every single song, the current average (mean) sits at a score of 7.320. Anything better than that score can be considered above average and anything lesser is below average. From there only one song is considered right on the average in the first 100 rates: Altar by Poppy from the 2016 EP Rate. (If you exclude bonus songs the total average rises slightly to 7.341).
Controversial Songs
Possibly unsurprisingly, Closer (from the 2016 EP Rate) still holds the top spot for controversy after all this time. In the top 25 it also holds spot #16 (from the All Stars 3 robbery). Work From Home is the only other song with that distinction sitting at #3 and #21.
Currently 86 rated songs have achieved a controversy score over 3.00. And 11 of those are just from the Meme rate! In contrast, only 20 songs have received a controversy score at or below 1.00. 20% of those songs all come from the same rate (Modern Classics of Hip-Hop).
Controversy usually dooms a song to a low rating, but not always. The only 3 songs to get 7+ with more than 3.0 controversy are Shoes (Meme Rate), Where's My Juul (Meme Rate), and Closer (EDM/Pop Girls Collab Rate). If that isn’t justification to include it in Meme Rate 2 among its brethren I don’t know what is.

In the top 25 leaderboard there are also 6 former Miss Songenialities (Ur So Gay, Work From Home (X-Factor), Revenge, Closer (AS3), Accelerate, and Party Rock Anthem (Songs of the Summer)). We love to award a messy song!
Songs Rated Multiple Times
Excluding bonus songs, we have rated 410 songs more than once. Of those 57 songs have been rated 3 or more times and 8 have hit the 4+ barrier (below).
Title Artist Rates In Avg Score
Rolling in the Deep Adele 6 8.513
Paparazzi Lady Gaga 4 8.851
When Doves Cry Prince 4 8.785
Call Me Maybe Carly Rae Jepsen 4 8.549

TiK ToK Kesha 4 8.400
We Found Love Rihanna (ft. Calvin Harris) 4 8.363
Closer The Chainsmokers (ft. Halsey) 4 6.611
The songlist sheet only contains songs after they have been rated, but due to the VH1 90's rate Genie in a Bottle and Waterfalls will be joining the 4+ club very soon. Additionally, once the 2nd Winners Rate starts Dancing On My Own and We Belong Together will also both be joining the 4 timers list.

Artists Statistics

Including both primary and featured credits, we have rated nearly 1300 artists at this point!! From those, 228 have more than 5 ratings (excluding bonus songs). Any artists mentioned in this next section will be about those artists since they've got enough ratings to pull data from. These only include credited names, so for example, Beyoncé is not credited for Destiny's Child songs (though I want to add this feature some day as a toggle or something).
Artist Averages
Despite a rough showing in the Redemption Rate (which also means Hounds of Love [Redemption] is now her lowest rated song), Kate Bush still holds the number 1 spot by a good margin. The bottom 5 is also included, though I don't think many will be surprised by their inclusions. Though T.I.'s spot might not be an immediately expected guess, but it shows when you see that of his 6 ratings - 1 is Jewels and Drugs (avg: 4.751) and 2 are from Blurred Lines (4.333 and 3.527).

Artist Controversiality
Barring a contest held for "Lowest Artist Average" or "Worst human being rated", Chris Brown is at the top of hopefully the only chart that can be made for this data. Joining him is the rest of the bottom 5 average artists listed above as well.

Most Times Rated
Surprising absolutely no one, this top 10 is composed entirely of the sub's favourite pop girls. In fact nearly all of the top 20 is made of women, except for Kanye West (#12), Drake (#14), and The Weeknd (#17).

  10. Kesha (64)
Least Zeroes
Managing to survive through rabid stans, ratings sabotage, and the messiness known as "All Stars", only 11 artists of the 228 have never received a zero! From most ratings to least they are
  • MisterWives (0 zeroes/15 songs)
  • The Jonas Brothers (0/15)
  • Carole King (0/12)
  • Dolly Parton (0/12)
  • Fiona Apple (0/12)
  • Paula Abdul (0/11)
  • Purity Ring (0/10)
  • Usher (0/8)
  • Ludacris (0/7)
  • Alicia Keys (0/6)
  • Rico Nasty (0/6)
Congrats! Everyone either loves you or you’re so forgettable no one cares enough to bring your scores down. Shout out to Jess Glynne, Jay-Z, Amy Winehouse, and Florence + The Machine who all have the lowest amount of zeroes per song otherwise, with 1/20, 1/18, 1/16, and 2/32 respectively.
Most Elevens
Quick, before you get to this list take a 2 or 3 guesses which popheads favourites might be on it. If you didn’t guess any then you must have just joined this subreddit, in which case – Welcome!

  2. Lady Gaga (210)
  3. Lana Del Rey (178)
  4. Carly Rae Jepsen (172)
  5. Ariana Grande (158)

  10. Kanye West (126)
*Couldn't find the number of 11s from the first time we rated Toxic, but if I had to guess it would be enough to move her to at least 8th.
Most Zeroes
Only Taylor could top both of these categories by such a large margin. Say what you want about her, but she knows how to get a reaction. Beyoncé and Halsey are technically tied for 5th, but I don't feel liking working around markdown today to fix it.
  1. Taylor Swift (213 zeroes)
  2. Katy Perry (120)
  3. Rihanna (98)
  4. Lady Gaga (79)
  5. Beyoncé (78) [TIE]
  6. Halsey (78) [TIE]
  7. Britney Spears (76)
  8. Lana Del Rey (75)
  9. Ariana Grande (74)
  10. Charli XCX (72)
Least Elevens
Out of the group of 228 with 5+ ratings, there is only a single artist that has never received an 11.
Sorry LMFAO stans (if you exist). Should have thrown them an 11 when we rated Party Rock Anthem for the third time.
All around trash human being Chris Brown is otherwise worst of the pack, with only 1 eleven score out of 11 rating entries. Joining him in the bottom 5 include Wiz Khalifa (1/8), Linkin Park (2/15), Ne-Yo (1/7), and Macklemore/Ryan Lewis (1/5).
Edit: This is too long and breaking my reddit so rate stats are included in a comment
That's it from me! Here is a link to the raw data/full songlist for anyone interested! Some tips:
  • Ctrl/Command + F is your friend if you are looking for specific artists/songs
  • If you want to sort/reorder the sheets you may have to download or make a copy for editing rights
  • Due to the headers, to determine a song's ranking just take 1 off the row number (ignoring ties)
  • Some of the songs/rates are missing data (usually controversy or participant data). Due to this some of the aggregated stats might be slightly off (score-related stats should be all fine though)
All the source data is actually stored in a database so if anyone has rate questions that can’t be done in Sheets let me know (in the comments or as a message) and I’ll see what I can do. I'll be slowly adding more stats to this sheet as I figure out a good way to either calculate or store them, so be on the lookout for those! I'll try to keep the list updated within a day or two of new rate results as well. Enjoy! And don't fuck up the Emo/90's Rate like y'all did Redemption!
Edit: I've been lucky enough to be granted a Wiki page to keep a running stats page for any new rates! Check it out! Thanks for the kind words and awards from everyone! I'm not usually one for gold edits, but really everyone who does these rates (both hosting and participating) does great work and I've discovered so much more fantastic music that I never would have otherwise!

2020.09.08 02:24 i_eat_juice779 Alot of persons don't actually want an album from Rihanna that badly, they're just jumping on the bandwagon.

If you're not familiar with the whole shabang, Rihanna's last album was in 2016 and she hadn't released another album since. Instead she's been focused on building her business and brand, Fenty beauty and Fenty skin. As such, multiple persons on social media are constantly whining and complaining about her next nexg album release. You can't even come across a photo or any Rihanna related post without the album comments. I know Rihanna has a large fan base but I felt as though, in the past, no one was this adamant or pressed this much for an album. At this point the narrative is overplayed and everyone is just jumping on the bandwagon because they think they're being funny or maybe they wan to look relatable. It's getting old

2020.09.08 02:22 uhkwarius Spotify Crunch: Female artists across Spotify milestones

Hello everyone! I love crunching numbers and looking at chart/music data. So I looked up all the 100 million multiples in milestones on Spotify for female artists, and this is how they rank up in each milestone!
DISCLAIMER: this list was compiled on September 5, 2020 - so slight real-time inaccuracy is possible due to some songs being near new milestones at the time of this being compiled. Also, due to me living in the Middle East, sometimes some songs are blocked in my region for some reason; so I won't be able to track them. Also, this only includes female soloists, not girl groups.
Here's a full rundown along with some comments too! Hope you enjoy this.
EDIT: I'm not an expert with formatting in Reddit, so all lists are supposed to be top 10s. E.g. if two artists have the most number of songs at number 1, I wrote it out as
"1. Artist X 1. Artist Y"
And it would be continued by number 3. I just don't know why Reddit forces it into a continuous numbered list.

How Do Certifications work?
When a song has 150,000,000 streams in the US or 1,000,000 sales, an artist can purchase a certification (for around ~$300). You don't automatically get a plaque when you cross the threshold. The label or the artist needs to buy it. Often artists will buy certifications in bulk before they release new music.

2020.09.06 20:31 YeezionalDepression EXTENDED MBDTF ALBUM (W/ DOWNLOAD)

Hello friends. This is something I started over on YandhiLeaks (RIP), so I thought I would continue it over here for the many people that enjoyed these extended projects I make! If you haven't seen any of my other posts, I will quickly explain that I have been posting my full extended Kanye albums on reddit and youtube, so here is the fifth instalment of Ye's discography...
So basically, I decided I was going to extended every Kanye song from his studio and joint albums in order to make an extended discography! I ended up extending his catalog by over 4 hours! I am releasing these extended albums over the coming months in chronological order, so here is the fifth one for you today.
Just some background info on my task:
- I am not at all in any way a sound editor, producer or anything like that, but I believe that they came out super well regardless. I am just a fan who wanted to edit all of his songs to make them longer for my own personal enjoyment, and am now sharing them with you.
- I did not want to go overboard and make every song like 12 minutes long, and add every single featured remix known to man. I added in remixed verses if they felt necessary, were accurate to the time the album was originally released and were high enough quality to actually have a spot on a Kanye album. I only extended songs to a length that I thought would still make them enjoyable.
- Since I am not a producer or sound editor, I did quite a bit of borrowing from others. Under the "composer" section in the data of each song, I added the names of everyone I borrowed edits from. In my Youtube video I credit and link them all more than enough, and specifically go over which parts I borrowed. I by no means want to take credit for any work I did not do myself, so I will make sure everyone gets the credit they deserve.
Here is the tracklist and a list of all the edits I made to the songs:
'HELL OF A LIFE' BY BSB DANTE - MBDTF EXTENDED... Cover by: Singletary_john
Original length of MBDTF standard version is 1 hour and 8 minutes. The length of this project is 1 hour and 34 minutes, making it 26 minutes longer.
*Also, I know many people enjoy when it shows less features, as it makes the tracklist more clean, but I for some reason love showing everyone who contributes vocals lol. If you wish you can delete that all once you download*
01. Dark Fantasy
- Was originally 4:41. Is now 6:42.
- Includes a slightly edited version of Mozart's 'Lacrimosa' for the intro.
- Record4Hype version of Nicki's intro is used.

02. Gorgeous
- Was originally 5:58. Is now 7:18.
- Includes a sample of ' You Showed Me Love' by The Turtles as the intro (Inspired by Steven-Hendrix)
- Transitions nicely into the beginning of the song

03. Power
- Was originally 4:52. Is now 7:34.
- Kuci’s Coachella MPC remake was used as the intro.
- Backing John Legend vocals were added to every hook.
- Kobe’s vocals were edited together to transition from the last official verse to Kanye’s remix.

04. All Of The Lights
- Was originally 5:00. Is now 8:46.
- Track starts with the interlude.
- Intro includes a mix of the demo hook and the final hook with Rihanna.
- After Kanye’s last verse, a portion of Lil Wayne’s remix verse is placed before Kid Cud’s part, which is then followed by Drake’s remix verse. The last lines of his part blend back in with a take on the hook that has some Big Sean ad-libs in the background.
- The demo version of Elton John's piano outro Is used

05. Monster / So Appalled
- Was originally 6:19 and 6:38. Is now 13:58.
- Monster plays out in full before beat switching over to the start of So Appalled.
- So Appalled ends with a synth keyboard solo taken from the sampled song, 'You Are - I Am' by Manfred Mann’s Earth Band.

06. Devil in a New Dress
- Was originally 5:52. Is now 10:23.
- Part One, ' Devil' is just Devil in a New Dress played out in full.
- After Rick Ross’ verse, a Mike Dean extended guitar outro is played. It is unconfirmed where this outro is 100% legitimate, but regardless it sounds fantastic.
- It then transitions into the second part of the song, 'New Dress', which is the fully released version of White Dress from the Man With the Iron Fists soundtrack.

07. Runaway
- Was originally 9:08. Is now 10:14.
- Kuci’s Coachella edit is used to extend the intro.
- The same edit is used throughout the track to get the added piano in the background.
- Where the outro normally starts, the vocoder section from the demo actually begins, which transitions into a beat stripped take on the hook, before the finally starting the released outro.

08. Hell Of A Life / Christian Dior Denim Flow
- Was originally 5:28. Is now 8:57.
- Hell of a Life plays in full.
- It transitions nicely into CDDF, which is edited to only include Kanye and Kid Cudi.

09. Blame Game
- Was originally 7:50. Is now 9:14.
- 'Avril 14th' by Aphex Twin is used to extend the intro.
- Yes, I did keep the Chris Rock skit in...

10. Lost In The World
- Was originally 4:17. Is now 10:50.
- 'Woods" by Bon Iver is played almost in full as the intro.
- Portions of Kuci's Coachella edit used to add piano in the background after Kanye's verse.
- Gil Scott Heron's extended monologue Record4Hype is used to finish off the album.

I will be releasing the next albums on my YouTube channel (BSB Dante) soon, and will also post them on reddit, so sub to me on YT and follow me on here for the rest of the full projects when they come out!

2020.09.06 14:56 ArtificialLocomotion A question about Rihanna’s Navy

Rihanna is a living legend. She has been relevant for her singles, albums, beauty lines and her cool factor for over 14 years. She hasn’t released an album or any singles in over 4 years - and yet is still so powerful on spotify.
My question is about her fan base - Navy. For someone as relevant and powerful as Rihanna I’d expect her to have a huge fan base. I have never met a single Navy before and the rihanna subreddit is 97% horny men, her actual fans are at rihannaheads and their numbers are very low.
Does Rihanna still have a large fan base? Did she lose a lot due to her being inactive in music.

2020.09.04 05:37 Jules-Rami Talk That Talk one of Rihanna’s best albums

I know this is a bit of an unpopular opinion but I really like Talk That Talk by Rihanna. Yes it does have some filler and some of the production feels a bit rushed but overall I feel it’s a great Dance Pop/R&B filled body of work. Although I did read somewhere it was originally supposed to be a reissue of Loud with the first 4 tracks off the album: You Da One, Where Have You Been, We Found Love, & Talk That Talk included which explains why the production on those songs sounds like they took much more effort and time and weren’t rushed. Nonetheless she was just trying to put out as many albums as possible to get out of her shitty contract. But could you imagine that reissue with all the Loud tracks and those select Talk That Talk tracks. Now that would have been a Rihanna album to NEVER FOREGT as she was a chart dominater with her singles. Teenage Dream who?

If you like Jess Glynne, Dua Lipa and Jessie Ware, you’ll probably like her. Tracks included in the playlist: Someone That Loves You, Faded and Give Me Love.

2020.09.03 19:10 ArtificialLocomotion Pop Princesses

Disney Pop Princesses I have been thinking about the main pop girls and which disney princess I think they best represent lol.
Here’s my thoughts;
Taylor Swift - Very obviously Belle. Taylor is blond and Belle is a brunette but they are so similar in personality. They both seem like kind, smart and ambitious women - who love reading.
Rihanna - She doesn’t just look like Tiana to me, she also has the same hard working drive (she released an album every year almost from her debut to anti) and she has the sassy attitude that Tiana has. Also, Rihanna has stated her favourite colour is green - Tiana is the only princess with a green ball gown.
Katy Perry - By looks I would go for someone like Snow White. But after really thinking about it I would say Rapunzel. They both have the same campy personality and positive outlook. Rapunzel was secluded from the outside world by Mother Gothel - Katy was secluded from pop culture by her parents. Rapunzel also has her hair cut short in the end of the movie, Katy has her hair cut in 2017.
Beyoncé - Not based upon looks of course, I feel Beyonce is best represented as Aurora. Many people see Beyonce as elegant, poised and very beautiful. However, in recent years she hasn’t had the largest personality - like Aurora. Beyoncé is also known for her incredible voice - Mary Costa the voice of Aurora is also known for her amazing singing voice.
Ariana Grande - She is Ariel to me. They have the same young maybe naive nature. They’re both kind people and adventurous. Both are great singers and incredibly popular in their “field” lol.
I couldn’t think of someone who really captures Nicki Minaj, Adele, Lady Gaga.
This was all I could think of. I would love to hear what you have to say! Would you change any of mine? Did I forget anyone? Let me know!
